Michtim Themebooks inspired by Belonging Outside Belonging
Hey friends!
Maybe you already know Dream Askew / Dream Apart by Avery Alder and Benjamin Rosenbaum, but if you don't, check it out. Avery proposed this new system, Belonging Outside Belonging, to allow GMless play, and it is exactly the kind of technique I want to include in Michtim: Fluffy Adventures, because I feel like this is very useful for families playing with their kids. That way, you all get to play, and share GMing together, which is something I always find enjoyable. If you don't like that, you can give all themebooks to one dedicated Game Master, that's also fine.
Anyway.
I break with the pattern a bit, because I introduce a new Minigame to these themebooks. These handouts represent locales and concepts, so when you are caught up in an environment, you can use your Joy to Detect things. This is called EXPLORATION. You roll the dice and if you score higher than 7, you read each individual die and look at the table on top of the themebook. It shows you what you have found. You can still set aside dice in the usual fashion, because doing so will increase the quality of what you find.
This is all especially welcome for the Corporate Exploitation themebook, which now handles things like finding/gaining ACCESS as Detect roll. At least, that's what I want to try for now. I'm going to do some playtesting and asking you to do the same, and send me some feedback!
Hope you like the new direction!
Georg
